The bar started from a passion to do good for the people and right by the beverage.
Garth’s Brew Bar opened on Monroe Street in Madison, Wisconsin on December 12, 2019. It’s the work of one obsession: a search for America’s best independent craft beer and the conviction that great beer is best shared. Garth Beyer — Certified Cicerone® — runs the bar with his wife Briana. Three months after opening, CraftBeer.com named it the Best Craft Beer Bar in Wisconsin.
Madison breweries get pouring priority. Wisconsin next. Then independent American craft from anywhere. Every tap, can, and bottle gets here on purpose. Board games on the shelves. Bring your own food. The beertenders are studying for or hold the Cicerone Beer Server certification.

Madison is filled with remarkable restaurants, bars, breweries, and cafes. But beer lines can be cleaner, cafe service can be more heart-felt, and the beer and coffee served can come entirely from American artisans. We’re here to do good for the people and right by the beverage.
Brewers, brewery owners and all those involved with the process of getting American craft beer into your hands deserve endless appreciation for the positive impact they make on our communities. Every beer we serve is a glass poured in their honor.

We’re proud to call Monroe Street home and honored to delight our neighbors and guests with something fresh. When you come to our bar for a craft beer or specialty coffee, we hope you’ll leave feeling a stronger connection to the Madison community.
